US East Coast- Tour, Kennedy Center Washington D.C.
After 2 very successful touring weeks of our Pacific Northwest Tour in the states of Washington, Oregon, Arizona and Northern California in early February, now we head eastwards:
With concerts in Pittsburgh, outreach activities for the Mexican Culture Institute in Philadelphia, a performance in the prestigious KENNEDY CENTER in Washington DC and concerts in Northern Florida, METALES M5 starts the first East Coast Tour.
In our performance at the KENNEDY CENTER in Washington, D.C. on March 4th, two of the composers who wrote for M5 will be present on stage: EMMY Award-Winner Ken Bichel from NYC http://kenbichel.com/Welcome.html , and the sparkling young composer Kevin McKee from D.C. http://www.kevinmckeemusic.com . We will perform the US premiere of Ken Bichel’s work “SPHERES” (2013), and Kevin McKee’s showstopper Vuelta de Fuego and Escape.
KEN BICHEL AT METALES M5’s CONCERT AT KENNEDY CENTER
Musicians don’t very often meet their composers anymore, as most of them lived more than 100 years ago. Unless you commission new compositions. METALES M5 has the honor and pleasure, to welcome one of “our” composers at the KENNEDY CENTER-concert in Washington D.C. on March 4:
KEN BICHEL, a legendary NY recording artist, EMMY- winning composer, TONY- winning performer, educator and close friend, wrote his composition “SPHERES” for METALES M5, inspired by an M5 concert in 2012. After a very “fast” life with his spectacular and very successful musical career in NYC, Ken had moved to San Miguel de Allende in Mexico about 8 years ago, where he teaches Meditation now. SPHERES expresses a similar transcendence.
With him and Kevin McKee (one of the foremost young composers for new brass repertoire, author of our favorites “VUELTA DE FUEGO” and “ESCAPE” ) AND one of our arrangers, DAVID MILLER, in the show, the concert will be even more special, if the venue would not be already special enough?! Don’t miss it!
